Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a drug and surgery free mode of treatment focused on the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This includes the effect of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.

Chiropractors focus on detecting and correcting abnormal joint function in all areas of the body (not just the spine) and the effect of this on how the nervous system controls and co-ordinates the body. Chiropractic helps restore the brain-body communication, allowing your body to feel and function at its best.

Doctors Ara and Peter utilise a number of techniques including Diversified Adjusting, Activator Methods and Applied Kinesiology (AK) to attempt to find and correct the root cause of your problems, rather than just treating your symptoms.

Chiropractors make "adjustments" (gentle corrections) to the spine, pelvis and other relevant joints to improve alignment and movement. Correct alignment reduces pain, improves function and increases the body’s ability to heal.

Chiropractic adjustments can be done with the hands, or using a tool called an activator, which is a spring loaded device that delivers a quick impulse at specific points.

Chiropractors in Australia are nationally registered and regulated healthcare professionals who undertake a five year university degree to become qualified in their chosen profession. Ara has also then gone on to study years of additional post-graduate work.

On your first visit your chiropractor will take a thorough history, review any previous imaging or notes you may have, then conduct any relevant examinations including orthopaedic, neurological, postural and gait assessment. They will do as much as necessary to gain an understanding of the cause of your complaints. If it is safe to do so your chiropractor will then apply the necessary treatment to begin the process of restoring your health.

If they feel your condition would be better helped by other practitioners they wont hesitate to help you find the appropriate care provider and we have a vast network of other professionals with whom we can refer to.
